Komusubi DebutOnosato

  • Onosato is the first Rikishi from Nishonozeki Stable to make his Komusubi debut since the current stable master founded it.
  • He is the sixth Rikishi post WWII from Ishikawa Prefecture to be promoted to Komusubi, following Endo, who reached the rank in May 2018.
  • Additionally, Onosato is the sixth former student from Nippon Sport Science University to achieve this rank, with the previous one being Hokutofuji, who was promoted in March 2019.
  • Taking only six tournaments from his professional Sumo debut as Makushita Tsukedashi to reach a Sanyaku-rank signifies the second-fastest promotion since the Showa era. (Table 1)
  • Since Ichinojo in November 2014, no one has been newly promoted to Sanyaku within two tournaments after their debut in the Makuuchi division. Since Asashoryu in May 2001, no one has reached Sanyaku for the first time within two tournaments. (Table 2)

Makuuchi DebutOshoma

  • Oshoma is the first Makuuchi debutant from Naruto Stable since the present stable master founded it.
  • He is the 29th Mongolian Rikishi to achieve this, following Mitoryu, promoted in September 2022.
    Furthermore, he is the 54th foreign born Rikishi to achieve this post WWII, following Roga, who was promoted in November 2023.

Makuuchi DebutTokihayate

  • Tokihayate is the first Rikishi from Tokitsukaze Stable to be promoted to Makuuchi since Yutakayama in May 2017.
  • He is the eight newly promoted Makuuchi Rikishi from Miyagi Prefecture post WWII. The most recent was Gojoro, who had been promoted in March 1997.
  • Additionally, he is the 10th Rikishi successful as a student of Tokyo University of Agriculture to achieve this, also following Yutakayama.

  • Mitoryu returns to Makuuchi. He previously held a rank here in May 2023.

Makuuchi ReturnTomokaze

  • Tomokaze returns to Makuuchi. He previously held a rank here in January.

Makuuchi ReturnTakarafuji

  • Takarafuji returns to Makuuchi. He previously held a rank here in January.

Juryo DebutOnokatsu

  • Onokatsu is the first Rikishi from Onomatsu Stable to be promoted to Juryo since Yuma in July last year.
  • He is the 38th Rikishi from Mongolia to achieve this, following Tamashoho, who was promoted in March 2023. Onokatsu is the 74th foreign born Rikishi to achieve this. The previous one had been Shishi who reached Juryo in July 2023.
  • Additionally, Onokatsu is the 15th former student from Nippon Sport Science University to achieve this with the previous ones being Takahashi (current Shirokuma), Asakoryu and Onosato who were promoted in the September tournament of 2023.

Juryo DebutTochitaikai

  • Tochitaikai is the first Rikishi from Kasugano Stable to be promoted to Juryo since Tochimusashi in September 2022.
  • He is the 22nd Rikishi from Saitama Prefecture to achieve this, also following Tochimusashi.

Juryo DebutKazekeno

  • Kazekeno is the first Rikishi from Oshiogawa Stable to be promoted to Juryo since the current stable master has founded it.
  • He is the 12th Rikishi post WWII from Ehime Prefecture to achieve this. The previous one had been Tamakasuga in the March tournament of 1995.
  • Moreover, he is the 12th former student of Chuo University to achieve this, following Tochimusashi.

Juryo ReturnChiyomaru

  • Chiyomaru returns to Juryo. He previously held a rank here in January this year.
